Greek Name Days is an independent, free website about name days in Greece. It aims to answer questions such as “whose name day is it today?” and “when is George's name day?” quickly and clearly, on phones and computers alike.
How the calendar is compiled
- Fixed feasts follow the calendar of the Church of Greece (the new calendar).
- Movable feasts, such as those of Lambros or Zoe, are calculated automatically from each year's Orthodox Easter.
- “Today” is calculated in Greek time.
- Names and dates have been checked against the Orthodox synaxarion and independent name-day calendars.
Sources and accuracy
Saint biographies are short and based on the sources listed on each saint's page. Anything that comes from Church tradition is marked as such. Where calendars disagree or there are local customs, we say so.
Greek Name Days is not an official publication of the Church and is not affiliated with any church body.
