Holy Apostle Hermes of the Seventy
An apostle of the Seventy greeted by Paul in the Epistle to the Romans (16:14) who, according to tradition, became bishop of Dalmatia.
Biography
Hermes is mentioned by the Apostle Paul in the Epistle to the Romans (16:14), among other believers in Rome whom he greets by name. He is counted among the Seventy Apostles.
According to tradition he became bishop of Dalmatia, succeeding Titus, and died in peace. Older synaxaria also call him Hermylos, and he is commemorated as well on 8 April, together with Herodion, Asyncritus, Phlegon, Rufus and others of the Seventy.
