Biography
According to tradition, Catherine was an educated young noblewoman of Alexandria. She was martyred in the early fourth century after refuting the philosophers summoned to change her mind.
Tradition links her martyrdom with the wheel. Relics of hers are kept at Saint Catherine's Monastery on Mount Sinai.
