Saint Christina the Great Martyr
Great martyr from Tyre.
Biography
Christina came from Tyre in Syria and was the daughter of the general Urban, around the year 200. When she refused to sacrifice to idols and broke their statues, her own father had her tortured and imprisoned.
According to tradition, an angel fed her in prison, she survived being thrown into the sea, and she endured burning, poisonous snakes and mutilation without renouncing her faith, until she was finally killed with spears.
Her relics were later moved from Syria to Constantinople and then to Venice, where they are still kept in a church of Saint Francis.
