Saint Cornutus, Hieromartyr Bishop of Iconium
A bishop of Iconium who was tortured and beheaded for teaching Christianity in a nearby village.
Biography
Cornutus came from Iconium, where he became a bishop. He was once in the village of Soursalo, teaching the faith to unbelievers, when local persecutors of Christians arrested him and brought him before the governor Perinius.
The governor tortured him severely, trying to force him to deny his faith in Christ, but Cornutus stood firm to the end without wavering. He was finally beheaded, and so the saint gloriously received the crown of martyrdom, honoured ever since as a hieromartyr of the Church of Iconium.
