An ascetic from Carthage who came to Constantinople under Theodosius the Great, was baptised by Patriarch Nectarius and became a nun known for her charity.

Biography

Domnica was born in Carthage in Africa and in 384, while still young, came to Constantinople together with forty companions of her own age, in the time of Emperor Theodosius the Great.

Patriarch Nectarius, recognising her pure intentions, baptised her at once and made her a nun. She was soon noted for her faith, zeal and devotion to charity.

Her moral purity and humility made such an impression that the Church numbered her among its saints.
