Holy Martyr Drosis and the five virgins with her
According to tradition a daughter of Emperor Trajan who, with five virgins, secretly buried the relics of martyrs and was put to death for her faith in the early 2nd century.
Biography
According to tradition, Drosis was a daughter of the emperor Trajan. Influenced by five virgins who secretly buried the remains of persecuted Christians, she began to help them in this work.
Her betrothed discovered her during one such burial and reported her to her father. Trajan immediately ordered the five virgins put to death and had his daughter placed under close guard.
Drosis managed to escape the palace and hide in the home of some Christians, where, after eight days of prayer, she died; the Church honours her as a martyr together with the five virgins.
