Saint Eudocimus the Righteous
Pious imperial official from Cappadocia under the emperor Theophilos (9th century), known for his justice and charity.
Biography
Eudokimos was born in Cappadocia to wealthy and pious parents, Basil and Eudokia, and was raised according to the teachings of the Gospel.
Thanks to his character and charity, the emperor Theophilos appointed him military governor first of Cappadocia and then of the whole empire; in his duties he remained always just and humble.
He died of a severe illness at the age of 33. When his relics were exhumed, they were found incorrupt and were transferred to Constantinople on 6 July 831.
