Saint Gerasimos of Kefalonia
Sixteenth-century ascetic and patron saint of Kefalonia.
Biography
Gerasimos came from the Notaras family and was born at Trikala in Corinthia in the early sixteenth century. He became a monk and, after a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, settled on Kefalonia, where he founded a convent at Omala.
He died in 1579 and is the patron saint of Kefalonia. He is commemorated on 16 August and on 20 October (the translation of his relics).
