Saint Glaphyra

Lady-in-waiting of Empress Constantia who fled to Amaseia to escape the advances of Emperor Licinius, gave her money for the building of a church there and died in peace.

Biography

Glaphyra was a lady-in-waiting to Empress Constantia, wife of Emperor Licinius. To protect her from her husband's advances, Constantia sent her away from court, providing her with money.

Glaphyra fled to the East and wandered through various places until she reached Amaseia. There she gave her money to Bishop Basileus for the building of a church, and died in peace in that city.
