Saint Gregory of Novgorod
Brother of Archbishop John of Novgorod, whom he succeeded on the city's episcopal throne.
Biography
Gregory (born Gabriel) was the brother of Archbishop John of Novgorod, whom he helped rebuild the Monastery of the Annunciation of the Theotokos on Migizhsky Island, where he was tonsured a monk under the name Gregory. In 1187 he was himself elected archbishop of Novgorod, and he died in peace in 1193.
