Mother of Constantine the Great, whom tradition connects with the finding of the True Cross.
Biography
Helen (c. 250–330) was the mother of Constantine the Great and was given the title Augusta.
Late in life she travelled to the Holy Land, where she founded churches. Tradition connects her with the finding of the True Cross, celebrated by the Church on 14 September (the Exaltation of the Cross).
