3rd century
Saint Myron the Hieromartyr
Priest in Achaia who was beheaded during the persecution of Decius (250).
Biography
Myron came from a wealthy family in Achaia but devoted himself to the Church and was ordained a priest, caring daily for the poor, widows and orphans of his parish.
During the persecution of Decius, the prefect Antipater arrested many Christians of the region and promised Myron he would free them if he renounced Christ. His own flock rejected this offer, preferring to lose their lives together with their spiritual father rather than see him deny the faith.
The enraged prefect tortured and beheaded Myron in 250.
