Saint Nathanael the Apostle

Disciple of Christ from Cana in Galilee and friend of the Apostle Philip, of whom Jesus said that he was a true Israelite without deceit.

Biography

Nathanael came from Cana in Galilee, where Christ performed his first miracle, and was a close friend of the Apostle Philip, who told him they had found Jesus of Nazareth. Christ called him "a true Israelite, in whom there is no deceit," and he became one of the Twelve Apostles, usually identified with Bartholomew.

According to tradition, his preaching reached as far as Africa, Mauretania and Britain, where he was crucified by pagans.
