Saint Panteleimon the Great Martyr and Healer
Physician from Nicomedia who healed without payment and was martyred in 305.
Biography
Panteleimon was a physician in Nicomedia. According to tradition, the priest Hermolaus brought him to the Christian faith, and from then on he treated the sick without payment.
He was martyred in 305, in the persecution under Maximian. He is honoured as one of the Holy Unmercenaries and as a protector of doctors and the sick.
