Saints Patricius, Bishop of Prusa, Acacius, Menander and Polyaenus

Bishop of Prusa in Bithynia who, together with his companions Acacius, Menander and Polyaenus, refused to deny Christ and was beheaded.

Biography

Patricius was known for his theological learning and fervent faith, which led to his becoming bishop of Prusa. Together with three companions, Acacius, Menander and Polyaenus, he brought many pagans to Christianity.

Their activity was reported to the governor Julian the Consular, who arrested them and tried, through philosophical argument, to convince Patricius that Christ was not God. Patricius refuted his arguments one by one, and Julian, faced with his own defeat, ordered Patricius and his three companions beheaded.
