Saint Paul the Apostle
The Apostle to the Gentiles, who also preached in Greece.
Biography
Paul (originally Saul) was born in Tarsus in Cilicia. According to the Acts of the Apostles, the former persecutor of Christians became a preacher of the Gospel after a vision on the road to Damascus.
He founded churches in Greek cities such as Philippi, Thessaloniki and Corinth and spoke at the Areopagus in Athens. His letters make up a large part of the New Testament. Tradition holds that he was martyred in Rome.
