Saint Peter the Apostle

Biography
Peter (originally Simon) was a fisherman from Galilee and the brother of the Apostle Andrew. According to the Gospels, Jesus gave him the name Cephas or Peter, “rock”.
Tradition holds that he was martyred in Rome under Nero, crucified upside down. He is commemorated on 29 June together with the Apostle Paul.
