Saint Pior of Egypt
A disciple of Anthony the Great who left his family for the desert and kept his vow even when he saw his sister again.
Biography
Pior was an Egyptian ascetic, a disciple of Anthony the Great, who left his home for the desert determined never to see his parents or relatives again. Many years later, when his sister, by then an old woman, learned that he was still alive and asked to see him, Pior went to her house, stood at the door with his eyes closed, and spoke with her without entering or looking at her, remaining faithful to his resolve.
