Saint Plato the Great Martyr
Great martyr of Ancyra in Galatia.
Biography
Plato came from Ancyra in Galatia and was the brother of the martyr Antiochus. As a young man he was arrested for preaching his faith in Christ and brought before the governor Agrippinus, who, seeing the young man's good looks and wealth, first tried flattery to make him renounce his faith.
When Plato refused, the governor had him flogged and tortured with red-hot rods. He remained unshaken in his confession and was finally beheaded, in AD 306.
