Saint Seraphim of Sarov

Russian monk and ascetic, one of the best-loved saints of Russia; he died in 1833.

Biography

Seraphim (born Prokhor Moshnin) became a monk at the Sarov monastery in Russia and lived for many years as a hermit in the forest.

In his last years crowds came to him as a spiritual father. He died in 1833 and was recognised as a saint in 1903.
