Saint Synesius, Bishop of Karpasia

Cypriot hierarch from Karpasia who succeeded Saint Philo as bishop of the city and was known for his gentleness and his struggle against heresies.

Biography

Little information survives about Synesius. He was born in Karpasia in Cyprus, was a gentle and patient man, and succeeded Saint Philo on the episcopal throne, continuing his work.

He worked zealously against the many heresies of his time - more than eighty, according to Saint Epiphanius - and, through his gentleness and his miracles, led many misled believers back to the Church.

According to tradition, he continues to heal those who turn to him, especially for urinary ailments, while afflicting with the same condition those who encroach on his property; he is content with very simple offerings, such as an onion.
