Biography
Thessalonica was the daughter of a wealthy pagan priest named Cleon in Amphipolis, Macedonia, who tried in vain to make her renounce Christianity. She was stripped, whipped and had her ribs broken, her property was confiscated, and she was exiled, where she died confessing her faith.
Auctus and Taurion, who denounced her torturer, were themselves arrested by the consul Thorybius, who ordered them stoned and cruelly tortured. According to tradition, they emerged from this unharmed, and were finally beheaded.
