Saint Titus the Apostle
Disciple of the Apostle Paul and first bishop of Crete.
Biography
Titus, a well-educated Greek, was converted to Christianity by the Apostle Paul and accompanied him on his travels, often serving as his secretary and envoy — among other places to Corinth, where he helped resolve a difficult period for the local Church.
Paul consecrated him bishop of Crete and instructed him to appoint priests across the island, guidance preserved in the Epistle to Titus, where Paul calls him his "true child". Titus remained in Crete into old age and died at Gortyna, in AD 105.
