Saint Tychon the Wonderworker, Bishop of Amathus
Bishop of Amathus in Cyprus in the early 5th century and successor of Saint Mnemonius, known for his charity and preaching.
Biography
Tychon was born into a devout family and lived in the time of Emperors Arcadius and Honorius. From a young age he stood out for his character and his study of Scripture, and Bishop Mnemonius of Amathus ordained him deacon on seeing his virtues; Tychon later succeeded him on the episcopal throne.
As bishop he was noted for his charity, preaching and administrative skill, tearing down pagan temples and building Christian ones in their place. According to tradition, he performed many miracles and healings, helping poor farmers, even by reviving barren land. He died in peace around 425.
