Saint Zacchaeus the Apostle
The chief tax collector of Jericho who climbed a sycamore tree to see Jesus and repented.
Biography
Zacchaeus was the chief tax collector of Jericho and, as the Gospel of Luke recounts, climbed a sycamore tree to see Jesus pass by, since his short height did not let him see over the crowd.
Seeing his faith, the Lord called him down and went to stay at his house, forgiving all he had done until then. Tradition later counts him among the Seventy Apostles who spread the Gospel.
