Saint Zosimus the Martyr
Soldier from Apollonias who became a Christian and, according to tradition, was martyred at Antioch in Pisidia under Trajan.
Biography
Zosimus came from Apollonias in Sozopolis and served as a soldier in the reign of Emperor Trajan. He accepted the Christian teaching, was baptised and became one of its most fervent believers.
In 98, the governor of Antioch in Pisidia, Domitian, a harsh persecutor of Christians, ordered his arrest when he found that no threat could make him deny Christ.
According to tradition, he was flogged, his sides were torn open and burned with a heated iron, and when even this failed to break him, he was beheaded.
