Saints Adrian and Natalia
A married couple from Nicomedia; Adrian was martyred and Natalia supported him through his martyrdom.
Biography
Adrian came from Nicomedia and was married to Natalia; he lived in the time of Emperor Maximian. At the age of 28, seeing twenty-three Christians ready to be martyred for their faith, he was moved and publicly declared himself a Christian too; he was arrested and imprisoned at once.
Natalia went to him in prison to support him and keep him from wavering. Adrian endured harsh torture and died; when his persecutors tried to burn his body, a heavy downpour put out the fire. Natalia buried him and, according to tradition, died herself soon after and was buried at his side.
