Saints Cyprian and Justina
Martyrs of Antioch; according to tradition Cyprian was a sorcerer before becoming a Christian.
Biography
Cyprian came from Carthage and, according to tradition, was a philosopher and a well-known magician in Antioch. A pagan man asked for his help to win the love of a Christian virgin, Justa, but all of Cyprian's magical tricks proved powerless against her steadfastness.
Recognising his failure, Cyprian burned his books of magic, was baptised and became a priest, eventually rising to bishop of Carthage; Justa was also baptised and ordained a deaconess under the name Justina. Both were arrested during the persecution under Diocletian and beheaded at Nicomedia, around 304.
