Saints Nicander, Bishop of Myra, and Hermaeus the Presbyter
Disciples of the Apostle Titus — Nicander, Bishop of Myra, and the presbyter Hermaeus — who, according to the Synaxarion, were tortured for their preaching and buried alive.
Biography
Nicander and Hermaeus were disciples of the Apostle Titus, Paul's close co-worker, and preached the Gospel with zeal, leading many pagans to the faith.
They were denounced to the governor Libanius, who ordered their flesh torn open; tradition says divine grace healed them, which enraged the governor even further.
In the end he ordered them burned and buried while still alive, and so they gave up their spirits to the Lord.
