Holy Apostles Silas, Silvanus, Epaenetus, Crescens and Andronicus

Five of the Seventy Apostles, mentioned in the Acts of the Apostles and in the epistles of the Apostle Paul.

Biography

Silas, Silvanus, Epaenetus, Crescens and Andronicus were five of the Seventy Disciples of the Lord, known from the Acts of the Apostles and the epistles of Paul. Silas was imprisoned with Paul at Philippi, accompanied him on many of his journeys, and later became bishop of Corinth.

Silvanus served as bishop of Thessaloniki and Epaenetus as bishop of Carthage, both suffering for their faith; Crescens became bishop elsewhere, and Andronicus likewise struggled for the Gospel. According to tradition, all of them served Christ through toil, hardship and persecution.
