Saints Socrates and Theodota
Martyrs of Ancyra.
Biography
Theodota and the priest Socrates lived in the 3rd century, in the reign of Emperor Alexander Severus, and were martyred at Ancyra.
Theodota, from a noble family, openly preached the Gospel, while the priest Socrates was known for his devotion to his flock; together they instructed pagan women in the faith and prepared them for baptism.
When they were denounced, both refused to sacrifice to idols despite threats and torture, and were beheaded.
