Righteous Job
The central figure of the Old Testament book that bears his name, who remained faithful to God despite losing his wealth, his children and his health.
Biography
Job came from the land of Uz, between Judaea and Arabia, and was a wealthy man, God-fearing and blameless.
By God's permission he was severely tested: he lost his wealth and his children and was himself struck with a grave illness, yet he never turned against God, despite the pressure of his wife and friends to do so.
After years of trial, God rewarded him by restoring his wealth and family, and he lived many more years before dying in peace. His trials are recounted in the Old Testament book that bears his name.
