Ascetic from Zeli in Boeotia who founded a monastic community at Domvou, on the western slopes of Mount Helicon, and died in 1602.
Biography
Seraphim, born Sotiris, came from Zeli in Boeotia. While still young he withdrew to hermitages in the region, first on Mount Karkara and then at the Monastery of the Transfiguration on Mount Sagmatio, where he was tonsured a monk and ordained priest.
To escape the fame his virtue had brought him, he withdrew to the western slopes of Mount Helicon, at Domvou, where he built a church and cells and founded a small monastic community, teaching there for ten years. He died at the age of 75, on 6 May 1602.
