Saint Agabus and His Companions

A prophet of the early Church who foretold the arrest of the Apostle Paul, commemorated together with three more of the Seventy Apostles.

Biography

Agabus was the prophet who, according to the Acts of the Apostles, bound his own hands and feet with the Apostle Paul's belt to foretell his arrest in Jerusalem; he preached the Gospel and died in peace.

Commemorated with him are three more of the Seventy Apostles: Rufus, mentioned by Paul in the Letter to the Romans, who became bishop of Thebes, and Phlegon and Ascyncritus, who preached in many places and were finally martyred on the same day.
