Saint Isaac of Cordoba

A Spanish monk who publicly confessed Christ in Muslim-ruled Cordoba and was martyred in 852.

Biography

Isaac was born in 825 in Cordoba, Spain, and worked as a notary before becoming a monk at a monastery near his birthplace. In 852, during the years of Muslim rule in Spain, he publicly confessed his faith in Christ and was martyred by the Muslims. He is counted among the first of a long line of Cordoban martyrs of that era.
