Saint Theosebia the Deaconess
A fourth-century deaconess closely linked to Saint Gregory of Nyssa, praised in her own right by Gregory the Theologian.
Biography
Theosebia lived in the fourth century and was praised by Gregory the Theologian, who called her the boast of the Church and an ornament of Christ.
Her exact relation to Saint Gregory of Nyssa remains uncertain: some sources describe her as his wife, who died young, while Patriarch Cyril I of Jerusalem called her his sister.
